New warehouse and showroom, including re-development of site

Location: Faxe Kommune, Denmark
Size: 3.000m²
Client: Sunarc
Status: Ongoing

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1973333/002 sunarc.jpg" border="0" width="460" height="310" width_o="460" height_o="310" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1973333/002 sunarc_o.jpg" align="left" />
Sunarc’s new warehouse in Faxe is an extension of the company’s existing distribution centre located on the site opposite. Our proposal reflects the client’s profile as an expanding firm in new technologies; glass processing, modulation and application, helping to project the company identity and character.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1973333/003 sunarc.jpg" border="0" width="460" height="310" width_o="460" height_o="310" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1973333/003 sunarc_o.jpg" align="left" />
<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1973333/004 sunarc.jpg" border="0" width="460" height="310" width_o="460" height_o="310" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1973333/004 sunarc_o.jpg" align="left" />
A wrapping form alternating between concrete and polycarbonate creates the framework of the new warehouse and divides the building into zones of varying climate and function. Amongst these a showroom is created displaying products including solar panels. The wrapping concept appears not only in the new warehouse, but is mirrored on the existing distribution centre, together creating the new face of the company identity.

Competition, svimming pools in Ystad Arena, Sweden.

Size: 3000m2
Location: Ystad
Client: Ystad Municipality
Status: 2.prize

"Ystad lanterninerne" is Ystads new landmark. The building is at the same time compressed and downscaled. We have sought a comprehensive solution with a focus on significantly architecture in respect of the local scale of Ystad, and the unique opportunity to create a free green link between the city center and the open green fields east of the city.

Our priority was to keep the green path south of the building and create a comprehensive cultural center with extroverted functions to both parks and parking. We have shaped the new arena as smaller units: (”Lanterns”) to break down the large, somewhat monotonous expression hall today. The highest "lantern" gives access the roof terrace, and at the same time it serves as an information pillar on which future events are advertised which can be seen from both the town and the park.
In the park you can think like "lanterns" as various pavilions to give shelter for sports and pastimes.

One could say that our architectural grip is to build on the existing, rational, and unifying roof on Österporthallen, and then "let it dissolve" into smaller units to achieve a more intimate scale. At once a rational building – but at the same time with a more outgoing and playful expressions.
At the same time we "expand" the existing plinth which Österporthallen is standing upon, further into the new building. This plinth unites the different functions into one building and future extensions could be added and integrated into the concept.

Masterplan competition about transforming the area around the train station in Upplands Väsby, Sweden.

Type: Commercial
Location: Upplands Väsby, Sweden
Size: 30.00m2
Client: Väsby Municipality
Status: Invited international architect competition

With its unique location next to the station and the “hidden” green river “Messingen” has a great potential. By combining the urban and the green as one, it is our intention to enhance the green environment and also enhance the urban character.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1967141/002 vsby.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="281" width_o="2048" height_o="861" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1967141/002 vsby_o.jpg" align="left" />

It is here where the urban and the green meet in Upplands Väsby new meeting space. It is here that we create both an urban square and a new park.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1967141/001 Vsby.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="335" width_o="2048" height_o="1024" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1967141/001 Vsby_o.jpg" align="left" />

Upplands Väsby is missing a link in the east-west direction, and no recreational park areas in the north-south direction. It is this "cross" which is our main idea and it is here we place the new city square.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1967141/004 vsby.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="335" width_o="2048" height_o="1024" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1967141/004 vsby_o.jpg" align="left" />

We believe it is important to create an urban arrival area and therefore we have chosen to assemble the buildings around a square. One will arrive in a public space defined by its surrounding buildings.
By increasing the building mass around the square the area to the north and south will be kept free, where we want to enhance the experience of the green environment.
In the green strip the river runs freely and around it we create a park.. In addition to the park we add a structure of small wooden houses with a different program.
We let the river be an asset that runs through the area and flows across the square. Hereby the plan is generated by the character of the site.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1967141/005 vsby.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="356" width_o="2048" height_o="1089" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1967141/005 vsby_o.jpg" align="left" />

Competition for a new cultural and movement house in Frederiksberg
- in collaboration with junya.ishigami+associates.

Type: Culture, recreation
Location: Frederiksberg, Denmark
Size: 4000m2
Client: Frederiksberg Municipality
Status: Invited competition

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1966913/02_diagram - de grnne stier.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="473" width_o="2048" height_o="1448" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1966913/02_diagram - de grnne stier_o.jpg" align="left" />

Since the founding of Frederiksberg, the green environment has been greatly appreciated. The small gardens, Frederiksberg Garden and Søndermarken are all places where people can both enjoy nature and be active. Frederiksberg therefore offers a range of cultural experiences as well as several opportunities for movement.
The house is at once 7 different zones and one house. It is large in its scale!. It is a house built of brick as a reference to Frederick's many brick houses.
We have studied how the program's seven different zones can be part of nature and form new, unseen environment for healthy cultural encounters in Frederiksberg.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1966913/03_ De Hje Haver set fra Finsensvej.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="446" width_o="2048" height_o="1365" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1966913/03_ De Hje Haver set fra Finsensvej_o.jpg" align="left" />

In the house the borders between inside and outside is being blurred. The environment is enjoyable in all seasons. It seems different at all times of the day, the week and the year. The visitors will always know the big brick building and the tall gardens but the events and activities are many.
The large openings in the tall arched brick walls makes it possible to gain insight into the green worlds of “The Tall Gardens”.
The inside seems to merge with the greenery of the exterior. They planted outdoor areas is a natural extension of the seven zones: outside becomes inside, and inside becomes outside.
The house will appear as one big garden, but the seven gardens can also be separated by simply closing the door!

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1966913/04_Plan - samspillet mellem de forskellige haver.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="930" width_o="2048" height_o="2843" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1966913/04_Plan - samspillet mellem de forskellige haver_o.jpg" align="left" />

The Tall Gardens is in this phase of the competition intended as a framework, an overall concept for a house with low spaces, high spaces and pavilions.
"They low spaces" for specific purposes, "the tall rooms" for the different garden characters of each zone, and "pavilions" to meet an involvement of users.

Project in collaboration with Humanistic Society and Life Ceremonies.
A neutral space for ceremonies placed in the landscape and in the city.

Location: In a city / in a landscape
Client: Humanistic Society, Denmark
Status: On going development

This project is the result of a collaboration between three independent partners with an interest in creating a neutral space for ceremonies: Association Humanist Society, the company Life Ceremonies and studio Svendborg Architects.
With the initiative we hope to create awareness and debate about the need for a neutral space for ceremonies in Denmark. It is our hope that municipalities, regions and the state consider a neutral space for ceremonies in their plans for the use of existing public buildings but also in urban development and construction.
Based upon two workshops on the neutral space for ceremonies Svendborg Architects has developed two different outline proposals that may clarify how a new construction of a neutral space for ceremonies might look:

A neutral space for ceremonies placed in the landscape.

Several sculptural elements are positioned in the landscape and frame a circular space in between which the ceremonies take place. The elements are situated in a way which makes the landscape constantly present in the space. A thin roof rests on the sculptural elements and highlights the contrast between the light and heavy.

A neutral space for ceremonies placed in the city.

The ceremony space is characterized by a reflected light in the middle of building. In the middle of the space there is a small water basin in which the sun, rain and snow will fall – telling a story of the presences of nature in the space.
The natural reflected in the pond creates an intimate atmosphere within the city. The space becomes an experience converted from the everyday life

Svendborg Architects and LIW Planning win the competition for a masterplan of Henriksholm

Type: Planning, Residential
Location: Vedbæk, Denmark
Size: 42.000m²
Client: FREJA Ejendomme
Status: 1.prize, under planning

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622640/silhuethus eksterir_mb_003_tilBOG.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="237" width_o="2048" height_o="727" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622640/silhuethus eksterir_mb_003_tilBOG_o.jpg" align="left" />

"Svendborg Architects/LIW Plannings

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622640/2.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="177" width_o="787" height_o="208" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622640/2_o.jpg" align="left" />

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622640/3.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="469" width_o="984" height_o="690" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622640/3_o.jpg" align="left" />

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622640/DIAGRAM.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="473" width_o="1191" height_o="842" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622640/DIAGRAM_o.jpg" align="left" />

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622640/cirkel type Croped flat white flat.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="192" width_o="709" height_o="204" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622640/cirkel type Croped flat white flat_o.jpg" align="left" />

’The Milky Way' - Borgerskolen Høje Taastrup
Type: Educational
Location: Høje Taastrup
Size: Renovation 120.000, New 11.000m2
Client: Høje Taastrup city council + Borgerskolen

The overall idea for the Borgerskolen has been to create coherence and clarity in the complex building mass and to add a unifying architectural element to the buildings. Archived by a contemporary idiom that both powers to step up significantly and symbolize the future and also to include and tying together the existing buildings - as a 5 dimension.

"The Milky Way" forms the axis or main flow through the school. A form of intuitive signage that provides an overview and recognition, just as one is not in doubt when approaching a main street in a city where the intensity of both markers and person number increases.
The Axis provides an ample experience route through the building, with smaller squares, seating areas (café) and look-outs into the courtyard rooms, which makes it attractive to move here.

<img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622688/1-200 stue plan_flat_TIL BOG.jpg" border="0" width="670" height="1366" width_o="2008" height_o="4096" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/2/88070/1622688/1-200 stue plan_flat_TIL BOG_o.jpg" align="left" />

'The Milky Way''

The Milky Way' is a contemporary architectural idiom, with its organic forms, which manages to differ significantly from the existing building's architecture, but at the same time collecting them across, with its simple and playful expression. An expression that also contains diversity and flexibility, do to its non rigid forms, but its abilities to adapt to its circumstances.
The idiom recurs in the central extensions attached to the school through the axis and spread further out with its long arms out into the courtyards and outdoor areas - connecting the buildings.
The most significant features are the curved forms of the extensions, but also the interior building elements such as stairs, skylights and lighting fixtures repeats the round forms in many varieties and altogether form an easily recognizable "starry sky" that extends throughout the school, forming a "galaxy", which ranges through the schools areas, from east and the outdoor areas and over the courtyards to the west of the seniors area in the urban plaza.
